Lena Ko

Over 30 years of experience teaching in early childhood education, mentoring, coaching, and building programs for adult learners in the early childhood field. Lena is a bi-racial, bi-cultural, monolingual, cis-gender, questioning educator and human-developmentalist and parent, She brings insights and advocacy on multiracial development, gender fluid and social identity development, cultural influences on development, and educational equity to her work. Lena teaches courses on culture and language in ECE, and culturally responsive curriculum and equity at PSU and has authored and co-authored several teacher guides on community and family collaborations in education and school preparation for diverse students. She is a training and education specialist for the Oregon Registry Trainer Program, and an Oregon master trainer, with a Master of Science degree in human development and family studies and a bachelors degree in counseling psychology. She is also co-owner of an arts and culture-focused family childcare program and resource center now in its 20th year.
